I’m Lukáš Bulko, also known as Alapastel—a composer, sound artist, and performer creating music that listens before it speaks.
Born in Trenčín, Slovakia, I’ve been making music since I was fourteen (2000) — drawn to sound not as entertainment, but as a doorway. I’ve grown through deep listening, intuitive experimentation, and an ongoing exploration of how music can hold space for what words cannot express.
I work with ambient, neoclassical, and experimental forms, blending acoustic instruments, electronics, field recordings, and ceremonial textures. Whether it’s a quiet ambient sketch or a rhythmic composition, what unites my work is a dedication to presence. I compose slowly, intentionally, and always in search of emotional truth.
My albums Hidden for the Eyes (2018, Slowcraft Records) and Ceremony (2021, Lost Tribe Sound) have been praised on international platforms like Fluid Radio, Bandcamp Daily, Brainwashed, Headphone Commute, Ambientblog and many more. Described as “music that leaves a soul-print” and “ceremonial ambient, as poetic as it is grounded,” these works are invitations into deep listening.
I’ve performed across Europe—Sicily, Prague, Vienna, and throughout Slovakia—with solo shows and full-band concerts, including appearances at festivals like Sharpe, Waves Vienna, Spectaculare, Hviezdne Noci, ZVUK for... to World Music Festival Bratislava.
With a group of close collaborators and friends, we co-founded Dream Scenes Bratislava, a series of all-night sleepover concerts—immersive, slow, intuitive sonic experiences designed for rest, dreaming, and quiet presence. We’ve held these in Slovakia, Sicily, and Gran Canaria.
I also regularly offer Sound Journeys for meditation, movement, or soundhealing. These have been shared in sacred spaces and creative retreats such as the Ecstatica Festival, 4D Gallery Bratislava, and House of the Sun in Crete.
Every collaboration starts with listening. I work with:
I collaborate closely with a small circle of trusted artists: Ján Kružliak Jr. (violin), Gabika Bezáková and Lukáš Medlen (electronics), and my wife Kristína / Kikon, who contributes vocals, acoustic instruments, and field recordings. The creative process is organic, co-creative, and often as transformative for us as it is for those who receive the music.
I believe that music—true music—is an act of resistance in a culture flooded by overproduction and distraction. It is a sanctuary for attention. A space for the sacred. I share the concern that our systems no longer support the genuine, the nuanced, or the quietly revolutionary. And yet, I know there are still artists, thinkers, and listeners who seek what’s real. Who feel the same longing.
I make music for them.
For you.
If you're looking for sound that doesn’t just accompany, but reveals—let’s create something that speaks from the soul.
Real words from collaborators whose visions came to life through sound.
“My two collaborations with Alapastel have always been deeply enriching. He is a composer who listens attentively and has a sensitive, intelligent, and professional approach. His musical compositions have elevated my work, and both projects we collaborated on received numerous awards and nominations. His music has been acclaimed in conferences and interviews. I would also like to highlight his remarkable humility despite the excellence of his work, which he always delivers on time.”
“I ordered some soundtracks from Lukas with the idea to use them as a background for my violin improvisations. His self composed electronic music is fantastic, deep, colourful and atmospheric. I love the combination of my acoustic instruments (violin, flute, gongs and also drum) and his world of electronic music. It opens new gates of "crossovers" with inspiring sound scapes. I highly recommend it to use his music in a creative way in ambient concerts and sound journeys. ”
"Lukáš's music was a perfect match. It has power and depth, reinforces the emotions, and supports the desired atmosphere. I used different tracks, but they stick together because of the same spirit that radiates from them. The documentary has benefited greatly. I am happy for this collaboration!"
“Richly orchestrated and featuring sumptuous vocal performances... its stirring instrumentation is almost undetectably morphed via electroacoustic production.”
“Bulko's material exemplifies an undeniably remarkable level of craft... To call Hidden for the Eyes assured hardly does it justice.”
“These sounds take the listener on a faraway trip... where electronic-ambient music can kiss the orchestral... Hidden for the Eyes leaves behind a soulprint.”
“Bulko's unusual compositional approach and eclectic choice of instruments elevate this album into something considerably more compelling than most neo-classical albums... an excellent album for deep listening.”
“Organic pieces, placing neoclassical in a more tribal and ceremonial context... Exceptionally beautiful!”
“For the advocate of hybrid instrumentation or the fan of ambient-tinged music that demands to be anywhere but the background, we whole-heartedly recommend a deep listening of Ceremony.”
Let’s bring your vision to life through sound.

Each release explores unique sonic territories, blending ambient soundscapes, electronic textures, electro-accoustic and neoclassical instrumentation to create compelling musical experiences.
Ceremony was born from intention—to offer music as a healing ritual. It was inspired by indigenous ceremonies, animist wisdom, and the vision of a future where humans live in harmony with each other and the Earth. The process of creating it was itself a ceremony: building compositions from the ground up, honoring the textures of tribal sound, and weaving them with electronics, strings, and silence.

Unreleased compositions, works-in-progress, and raw sketches that reveal the evolution of a piece. From ambient washes to rhythmic neoclassical pulses, these tracks show how sound begins, moves, and matures.

A selection of works where I explore collaboration with generative tools. These pieces demonstrate my ability to shape emotion and intention through careful post-production and prompt-based design—creating music that transcends what AI alone can offer.
Even when the starting point is algorithmic, the outcome is always human: emotionally attuned, sonically refined, and intentionally crafted.
